Rising Damp Treatment

RISING DAMP

Rising damp occurs when a physical damp-proof course breaks down or there is simply no damp-proof course in the wall. Ground water is then permitted to rise up the wall through Carpillary action, the water brings with it building infill. The water permanent damp state and infill react and form Hygroscopic salts, the salts remain in the wall rendering the masonry in a permanent damp state.

TREATMENT

To cure the contaminated wall, the plaster is removed to approx one metre high. Holes are drilled at approx 110mm centres and a Ultra cure injection cream is then installed at the base of the wall to prevent damp rising. The walls are then re-plastered using a sand & cement render with a waterproofer & salt inhibiter additive to block the salt from traveling through the wall, finish plaster is then applied.
